About
Welcome New Scouts
We would like to welcome all our new Scouts and parents crossing over from Webelos this year.
Parents and Scouts are encouraged to sign up to the Troop Talk email list, as we use this list as a primary means of communication with our members. Parents are also encouraged to join the Leadership mailing list.
We are currently planning our summer camp program. Please see the Events and Goshen section for details on summer camp.
Do not hesitate to contact any of the leadership with questions.

Troop 1150
Welcome to Troop 1150
Scouts are in charge!
The Scout Master, Assistant Scout Master and other adult volunteers mentor the Scout-led troop. Troop 1150 has a Senior Patrol Leader, a high-ranking scout elected by his peers who oversees the patrols in Troop 1150.
Patrols are comprised of scouts in varying ages and ranks, which allow for the higher ranked scouts to mentor the younger ones. All leadership positions held by the scouts are the result of troop elections.
For older scouts the troop takes part in the Order of the Arrow program, which is the BSA’s national brotherhood of honor campers and is recognized as Scouting’s National Honor Society. For scouts aged 13 and up, we also support and encourage the rigors of high adventure camping.
We are proud of our troop and the highly-motivated scouts who populate it. In the past 18 months 3 members of our troop were awarded the rank of Eagle Scout! That is well above the national average and we are very proud of the young men who have made such a commitment to the values embodied by the Boy Scouting program.
When do we meet?
Each Tuesday from 7:15-8:45 PM at the “Scout Hut” (formally known as the Reniker-Hall Youth Building) located on the grounds of Cameron UMC.
Is there a dress code?
Yes! The act of wearing the Boy Scout uniform shows commitment to the aims and purposes in Boy Scouting. Full Class A uniforms are required on the first Tuesday of each month. For the other meetings scouts are required to wear the appropriately-colored troop t-shirt, as detailed on the troop calendar. And don’t forget your Scout handbook!
What are the costs?
There is an annual rechartering fee, and the troop has annual dues, which covers the costs of rank and merit badge patches for the year. Each campout or activity usually has some fee associated with it as well. Scouts are required to have their own personal gear: backpack, sleeping bag, pillow, mess kit, etc., but the troop furnishes tents, cooking gear, etc. We are an active troop but we provide ways for each scout to earn money to pay his own way. Participation in Christmas tree lot sales with the Cameron United Methodist Men, and other easy-to sell items such as pizzas and holiday greens make fundraising relatively painless..
Troop Activities
Troop 1150 presents many opportunities for a scout to advance in rank or work toward merit badges, in addition to monthly participation in camp outs and other activities. Each January the troop takes a weekend ski trip, and each summer finds our scouts participating in some form of Boy Scout summer camp.
If you are a parent…
You are an important resource in your Scout’s success. Each month our Troop Committee meets to discus programs, finances, equipment and other issues affecting our scouts. Meetings are held on the 4th Wednesday of each month at 7:30 PM. Any parent is welcome to attend these meetings, contact Rob Lee, Committee Chair for details.
We welcome your support!
Although the troop is Scout-led and run, the invaluable resources remain our parents. Your support in any of the following ways is appreciated by all concerned with Troop 1150. None of these duties is designed to draw a tremendous amount of time from your already busy schedule:
- Merit badge counselors (as many as you feel qualified to take on)
- Project coordinators (can be a one-time event)
- Assistant Scout Leaders
- Patrol mentor/adult advisor
- Various committee projects
- Provide transportation and other support for camp outs and activities as needed
