Summer Camp Dates Confirmed - Please sign up!

The word is in on summer camp. Both dates put forth are available at Goshen:

Marriott the week of July 8-14

Lenhok’sin on the week of July 30

Now we need adults and scouts to sign up.

Pricing is:

Marriott
Adults  $265
Youth   $170
2 adults free if 8 or more youth attend

Lenhok’Sin
Adults  $315
Youth   $200
Minimum 2 adults and 5 youth are needed for this camp

Please note that Paul can not attend Lenhok’Sin High Adventure camp for medical reasons.

Everyone will need a current Class II med form (minimum). Adults over 40, adults on high adventure, and all youth on high adventure will need a Class III med form. Please expedite updating your forms.

——-

If we have a shortage of adults for high adventure, I suggest that we all go to Marriott, and I will help coordinate high adventure day trips for the older youth. Personally, I think $315/$200 is a bit pricey for Lenhok’Sin this year, given that we just want to do primitive camping and not participate in their pre-established treks.

Please RSVP your intentions of going, which camp, or not going as soon as possible.

May Campout Cancelled

Due to the fact that 1) Paul is in the hospital; 2) Phil’s Eagle project had to be rescheduled anyway; and 3) we could not get enough adults to cover as drivers due to the holiday weekend; we have to cancel this weekend’s camp out to Big Mac.

We will work with Mike to reschedule the Wilderness Survival Merit Badge activities that were planned. Phil will let everyone know when his Eagle project gets rescheduled to - probably late July.

I will post more into about Paul as I get it.

Eagle Project Support

For my Eagle Project, I’m doing a book drive which will benefit the children
of Anthony Bowen Elementary School. Bowen Elementary is in an economically
disadvantaged part of Washington DC, and as of 2005, only 39% of the
students were at their grade level in terms of reading test scores. I
believe that the reason for this is that they do not have much in terms of
books that are available for the children to read.

So now I need your help! If you have any new or like-new children’s books
(appropriate for grades K-6) that you have no use for, please donate them to
my book drive. There will be a box in the Scout Hut starting this Tuesday,
and it will be there until May 25th. If anyone is unable to bring them to
the Scout Hut, I can arrange to come pick them up at a time which is
convenient for you.

Thank you for your support,
Ryan

PLC Minutes - 3/27/2007

The PLC met following the knot-teaching session with the Girl Scout troop. In attendance were:
Scouts:
Brian Ratliff (ASPL)
Sam Frazier
Rod Morris
Nathanial Jones
William Blase
Adults:
Paul Blase (SM).
We discussed plans for the upcoming Camporee and general procedures for planning camping events. Next Tuesday will be 3-weeks prior to the Camporee, and we need to make announcements to the Troop about the event and when the fees will be due. We also discussed possible activities for June and July; the general concensus was that we should either go white-water rafting or canoeing. There was also agreement that the troop should plan a visit to an amusement park over the summer.

May Campout Rescheduled

FYI the May campout to Big Mac, which included Phil’s eagle project, has been rescheduled to the last weekend in May - Memorial weekend. Sorry for the change, but we had a family conflict that had to be worked out.
