Merit Badges

How do I earn a Merit Badge?

There are several ways. One way is to get a councilor - either one of the below people, or if you know someone else, bring them to a troop meeting. There is also a list in the Scout Hut of District MB Councilors. Coordinate your merit badge with our Scoutmaster (you must have his permission to start work on a MB) and then Mrs. Annie Ahdoot - our Advancements Chair. Then check out the merit badge book from the troop library and work on it at your own pace with the councilor. When all the requirements are done, you have earned the merit badge.

There will also be several times a year when the troop as a whole works on a merit badge, particularly Eagle required ones. You probably don’t even know it, but all the first year scouts are already working on the Camping merit badge.

Summer Camp is another venue for earning merit badges. Available badges and requirements are on the Goshen info page.

Finally, once or twice a year the District conducts Merit Badge Jamborees - one day events that work on, and complete, many merit badges.

If you have any questions, you can always ask your Patrol leader, the Senior or Assistant Senior Patrol leader, or the Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters.
