Uniforms
Every Scout should have a First Class (aka Class A) uniform, consisting of a Scout shirt (tan), Scout pants or shorts (green), scout socks, neckerchief (black; red for adults), hat (black), and merit badge sash.
The Troop also has Class B uniforms, which are the Scout pants & socks and a tee shirt with the BSA logo and troop number printed on them. There are four tee shirt colors - red, green, blue, and gray, which you will need to purchase from the troop.
Class A uniforms are worn on the first troop meeting of every month for uniform inspections, at Courts of Honor, while traveling to or from an activity or outing (such as a campout), at other special ceremonies (such as Cross Over’s), or any other time the troop meets and a Class B uniform is not the specified dress code.
Class A uniforms should have the following patches:
- American Flag (right shoulder)
- Boy Scouts of America name (above right breast pocket)
- National Capital Area Council shoulder patch (left sleeve at shoulder)
- 25 year patch (left sleeve, below NCAC patch)
- Troop numbers (left sleeve, below 25 year patch)
- Quality Unit Patch (right sleeve, just above hem on short sleeve shirts)
- World Scout Crest Emblem (above left pocket)
- Red shoulder epaulets
- Scout Rank (on left pocket)
- Leadership position (if they hold one; left sleeve, below troop numbers)
- Arrow of Light (if awarded; below left pocket)
- Patrol patch (right sleeve, below American Flag)
